Current

PhotoHadia AkbarPhd, Water management, water markets, climate adaptation, sustainability. For my current research, I am studying the feasibility and adaptability of water markets in Cache Valley, UT using decision support tools. I am a PhD student in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a research assistant at Utah Water Research Lab at Utah State University (USU). In 2019, I got my master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering from USU as a Fulbright student; during which I was also a trainee at Climate Adaptation Science program at USU. Prior to getting the master’s degree, I worked with the National Agricultural Research Center and International Water Management Institute in Pakistan on research projects focusing on water conservation and management. Before starting PhD, I briefly worked as a sustainability specialist in Pakistan. F
PhotoMahmuder AveekPhd, Climate adaptive water management, conservation behavior, behavioral sustenance, residential water use, climate-resilient policy development. A civil engineer with a strong background in water resources management, Mahmud spent most of his career working on big-scale projects focusing on climate-resilient infrastructural development, agricultural water management, and food security. He has had a diverse engineering career; his responsibilities included project planning, infrastructure designing, surveying, and construction monitoring. Mahmud's master's research focused on sustaining water conservation behavior in the residential sector, where he created a framework for a messaging system that could combine psychology and high-frequency water use data. His investigation covered topics related to behavioral psychology, conservation ethics, society and societal influence on human behavior, and communication tactics. He intends to pursue a career in water management, and his research will focus on state, basin, and national-level water conservation policies and management practices.
