Dear Faculty and Staff,
Sadly, we have recently lost members of the USU family
to suicide. As we mourn, we want to reach out with information to help you
connect students, colleagues, and yourself to mental health resources.
There is always mental health support when it is needed.
Here's how to connect, wherever you are, on any device:
Crisis Support
Employee Support
- Aggies Thrive – connect to
resources and learn about workshops, including how to help a
distressed employee.
- Employee
Assistance Program – up to six free counseling sessions,
plus other support resources.
Resources for Students
Students received an email on Jan. 22 with this information.
- Student Health and
Wellness Center – psychiatry in-person and remote services.
- Student
of Concern – submit a report to get help from professionals if
you’re worried about a student’s suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
- Resilient
Mind Workshops – increase
resiliency during stressful life events.
- ACT Guide – online
self-help program to foster emotional well-being and help individuals
cope with mental health issues.
- USU
Online Well-being Course – training on managing the stress and
difficulties that come with being a college student.
Get Trained
As a caring community, we want to empower everyone with
the knowledge and tools to help others who may be struggling with suicide
thoughts. USU HELPS: Helping Everyone Learn to Prevent Suicide is a
free 60-minute training, offered virtually to any USU group. Request a
training.
Drop in Talk to a Counselor
CAPS has organized virtual drop-in times for members of our community,
including employees, who want to talk about
their grief or ask questions about resources. Times and instructions will
be available at aggiewellness.usu.edu
on Monday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m.
All of us at USU care about every single one of you.
It’s been a very challenging year, and it may be hard to feel connected.
Please know you are not alone, and reach out to the services above if you
need help.
Sincerely,
Noelle E. Cockett
President
